Penn Foster has received the United Way’s Corporate Gold Hand Award and Employee Progress Award in recognition of its extraordinary commitment to the people of Lackawanna County through corporate and employee giving.
The Corporate Gold Hand Award is given by the United Way to organizations with corporate giving in the upper tenth of the National Trade Group Average. The Employee Progress Award is presented to organizations with employee contributions at or above three-tenths of the organization’s annual payroll. Despite the economic challenges of the past year, Penn Foster employee contributions increased from the previous year when it was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation.
“Whether it’s supporting the United Way, the Ronald McDonald House, the United Neighborhood Association, the Lupus Foundation, the local Veteran’s Nursing Home, or the many other charities that we are involved with, I’m constantly impressed with how generous our employees are with their time and contributions, particularly during these difficult economic times. As a company, we have always made it a priority to promote and contribute positively to our local community. It’s simply the right thing to do,” stated Stuart Udell, CEO of Penn Foster.
