Thanksgiving… a time of year that gives us the opportunity to slow down, take a deep breath, and realize the blessings we have been dealt. In a world where we get sports scores by the second, weather reports at our fingertips and music on the go, it is easy to overlook our fortunes.
Speaking of overlooked blessings, how about the blessing of education? At one time, the opportunity to become educated was reserved for the aristocracy, where today anyone can take advantage of school systems to quench a thirst for knowledge... not to mention a thirst to better themselves and their livelihood! We are truly fortunate to live in a world where we are no longer confined to the hand we are dealt, but rather get to choose the hand we play with.
Giving thanks for blessings is common around Penn Foster these days. We recently overcame a goal of $22,000 to donate to our local United Way foundation! This feat surely makes me proud to be part of the education system that is Penn Foster. The money raised will help build local communities, shelter those without shelter, feed those without food, and help individuals give thanks where otherwise they may not realize what they have to give thanks for.
Therefore, please take the time this Thanksgiving to enjoy the riches you have earned and have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving season from all of us at Penn Foster!
